IS FORMALDEHYDE FOUND IN QUICK-STEP FLOORS?

Formaldehyde is a naturally occurring substance in all wood products, formed by elements found in our environment like carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. While formaldehyde is naturally occurring, high levels can be harmful to humans. We do not add any urea formaldehyde during the manufacturing process for our products.  And we follow exacting industry and governmental regulations regarding formaldehyde emissions. For additional information on formaldehyde, visit here.

WHY CAN'T YOU REMOVE ALL FORMALDEHYDE FROM YOUR PRODUCTS?

Formaldehyde is a naturally occurring substance in all natural wood products, so it cannot be completely removed from floors manufactured with wood components. No urea formaldehyde is added during the manufacturing process for our products.  And we regularly check that our products are certified and in accordance with the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) 93120 Title 17, California Code of Regulations and CARB Phase 2. These strict standards mean that our floors are safe for you and your family.

I UNDERSTAND THAT QUICK-STEP FLOORS ARE CARB PHASE 2 COMPLIANT.  CAN YOU GIVE ME THE SPECIFIC FORMALDEHYDE CONTENT IN YOUR FLOORS?

All Quick-Step® laminate flooring complies with all industry and governmental standards.  As such, Quick-Step brand laminate flooring is in full compliance with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) 93120 Title 17 Phase II standards for formaldehyde. All of our sources for composite wood components have been tested by an independent, third party CARB-approved certifier and confirmed to meet the exacting standards of the state of California. We also regularly check our certifications to make sure they are updated and that all requirements are continuously being met.  For more information on CARB standards, click here.
